Cherie Rose has been exploring her creativity since she began her business as a paper hanger in 1982. Her first store, The Hang-Ups, was located in Willow Glen and opened in 1985. It was a home decorating center and offered flooring, window treatments, along with wallpaper, paint, tile, and stone. That same year she became a licensed general contractor.
Her capabilities expanded considerably when she became a certified interior designer in 1990 and moved her business to a larger retail location in Willow Glen. The new store, The Rose Collection, was not only a home decorating and contracting center but now a complete home furnishings and interior design showroom.
In 1995, Cherie moved her business to Los Gatos after a devastating fire destroyed her Willow Glen store. For the next 20 years she was located at 155 North Santa Cruz and then in 2015 she was given the opportunity to move to 40 North Santa Cruz Ave. This great move placed her in the heart of the furniture district of Los Gatos which resulted in doubling her walk-in traffic and business in the first year! Renamed to The Cherie Rose Collection, she showcases not only her own proprietary designs, but 100’s of other vendors from throughout the world in an elegantly appointed showroom featuring luxurious bedding, a huge array of eclectic accessories, home furnishings and a complete design center.
Cherie has received numerous design awards including Interior Designer of the Year and Home Furnishings Retailer of the Year. In addition she served as President of both the Western Home Furnishings Association and the National Home Furnishings Association, a national trade organization serving home furnishing retailers in all 50 states, Canada and abroad.
Cherie is an extremely proud mother of 4 children. Carleen, Cherie’s daughter, is Vice President of Operations and her right hand in the business. Her other 3 children have all grown up in the business and were a huge help and support to her. Colleen (Carleen’s identical twin) continues to help on projects while living in Folsom and working as a facilities manager for an asset management firm . Brian is a project manager for a commercial construction company in San Jose and Bobby is in finance living in Phoenix.
